MARKET DAY SOUP

Our foray into the markets at Bastille on the rainy Wednesday before Christmas was also about purchasing some vegetables to make a large pot of soup.

Winter being the weather for soup plus the rainy day plus the fact that I simply love cooking and eating soup were all the perfect excuses.

That is if one needed an excuse.

with our apartment having not only a kitchen but a reasonably well equipped kitchen for a rental - oh joy!! - it was time to roll up the sleeves and get chopping.

No soup is complete without celery,

Cauliflower looked good and was cheap,

Leeks and turnips always add good flavour,

I also love pumpkin in any soup,
(actually I put just about everything into soup, no recipe, just good ingredients and TLC)

The nice butcher cut a piece of bacon into slices for us,

 So its saute,
chop,

stock,

simmer,

stir,

and viola!!

soup fit for a king, queen and all the courtiers.

Or maybe just the three of us.
