Salzburg was sunny when I left at 10am.
But as the train climbed the mountains there were lots of dark clouds gathering.
The forecast had predicted that the wild weather currently being enjoyed by the UK was making its way across Europe and wind, rain and or snow would be coming this way.
Good news for the snow season and the accompanying tourist dollars. Seeing the mountains with these ominous clouds
surrounding, in some cases encompassing their tops, was pretty impressive.
As were these snow tipped pine trees alonside the rail tracks.
Austria and Switzerland have some outstanding scenery and again it would be lovely to see it in the summer. Winter however, has her own charms and I enjoyed seeing the sky change so much during my 7 hour train ride.
This is what I would call boiling clouds !!! It was dark by the time I arrived in Lausanne so have to wait till tomorrow. Light snow is predicted Friday according to the online weather forecast.
That should be interesting.
As we are so close to the French border and they speak German and French here, I can again say,
Au revoir
Jo
PS just found out that French is the official of Lausanne, not German!
